ENJOY THE NATURE CENTER AND THE BEAUTY OF THE PARK
ITSELF OTHERS WERE THER FOR THE MANY EDUCATIONAL
PROGRAMS THAT WERE PART OF THE AGENDA AND SOME
WERE THERE TO ACTUALLY SHOP. I FEEL THIS SHOW HAS
THE POTENTIAL OF BEING VERY SIGNIFCANT IN THE NEAR
FUTURE. MONIGUE JOHNSON  THE CORDINATOR AND THE

Comments: THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME IN 4 YEARS OF DOING THIS
SHOW. THE SAME PEOPLE WERE STILL THERE, THERE WERE
SOME NEW FACES, BUT IT WAS NICE TO SEE SOME OF MY OLD
FRIENDS. THEY HAVE ADDED A 2 D ART COMPETITION, WITH A
PRETTY HEALTHY PRIZE PACKAGE. I BELIEVE THE FIRST PLACE
WAS $250.00. THE HOTEL TOOK CARE OF THE FOOD CONCES
SION AND MADE AN EFFORT TO TRY TO PLEASE EVERYONE
(INCLUDING US VEGETARIANS) WHICH WAS A PLESANT
SURPRISE. WAYNE bALDWIN AND THE OTHER ODCCA
COMMITTEE MEMBERS DI A GREAT JOB OF COORDINATING
EVERYONE AND EVERYTING. I THOUGHT IT WAS ESPECIALLY
NICE THAT WAYNE (AND OTHERS) MADE IT A POINT TO STOP
BY EACH AND EVERY BOOTH TO WELCOME US AND TO ASK IF
WE NEEDED ANYTHING. IT WAS NICE TO BE BACK.

Show Name: Christkindl Markt
Show Location: Canton, Ohio
Sales: $500 - $1000
Sales Comparison: Less than last year
Exhibitor Quality: Fair
Promoter Quality: Fair
Facilities: Excellent
Show Start: 11/12/2004
Show End: 11/14/2004
Medium: Metal
Comments: Advertising was local and ineffective. We were told by
staff press releases were sent to newspapers outside of the county.
But no actual advertising was done outside of the local area. At this supposed high quality, fine art show, the lack of crowd was
astonishing and the silence was deafening. Due to customer
complaints many of the booths cut their prices to desperately
obtain sales. Many of the artisans and artists said they would
not be back, that includes us.

Comments: This show was recommended by another Guild member-
thanks, Agnes! Help, courtesy and kindness would describe the staff
at this show. The advertising and reputation brought in big crowds
-huge waiting lines each day. The preview show was well attended
and preceded by a buffet for the artists, included in your fee. There were 2 other artists of long standing with egg art-Fabergé type and painted eggs- but as my art is made using wax and dye (pysanky
and contemporary designs) we were not in competition and located
in different areas. Carts were available as well as help delivering
your items to your booth area, the museum lighting was directed into your
booth to your advantage and the coordinator was very visible checking
things throughout the show and making sure you had what you needed.
Booth sitters were available as well as runners from the café taking
orders and delivering to your booth. The service was very popular which
made our wait on Sat. 2 hours for our food. It hardly mattered as the
crowd was in the booth most of the time. I was not alone or I would have
needed a sitter to eat or use the restrooms which were right around the
corner from our room. I believe the other restrooms were in the lower
level. Other artists said the Sunday crowd was much bigger than before
due to the front page spread in the local paper and the entertainment
offered throughout the day. Our sales were good each day with Saturday being the best. The Preview night was even good, which is not the norm at most shows. We had a great location and would want
it next year if we are accepted back. We were in a corner room upstairs and I felt we were in the path most of the crowd took. The corridor rooms connecting the end rooms are narrower but were also full of booths and had better light as the rooms were flooded with light for sculpture whereas ours had hanging art that used spots. You are also permitted to put things on the walls as long as you remove what you put up and leave their nails and hangers in position. The crowd
was steady most of the time and didn t slack off too much until 15 minutes before closing. We had one lady come back right at 5 the last day as she wanted to surprise someone that had visited the booth earlier with her. Our neighbors were friendly and helpful which helped make the weekend pleasant. All the staff were extremely courteous
and helpful. We hope to go back next year and repeat or increase
 our sales.
